Spoiled we are, women, in fertile age because progesterone and oestrogen are softening the rough impact of flooding cortisol, the alpha hormone. Cortisol is released to save life, which is useful when needed. When the danger is over, then we forget to pause and notice that we can be thankful for so many things in life!
Instead, a variety of negative feedback loops start to cascade down to our reproductive system, until sex hormones will plummet.
When this progesterone-oestrogen armour is coming down, hormone levels are getting lower, be in your 30's, 40's or 50's, sadly, symptoms of flooding cortisol will be only stronger. As a result you experience lack of will power, no motivation, missing libido, infertility, sleeping issues, irritability, brain fog, insulin insensitivity, weight gain, cravings, just name it.
Don't feel ashamed, if you find yourself in this spiral.
Nothing is wrong with you, you are simply used to rely on the progesterone-oestrogen armour. Unconsciously. We all do.

Again, it's not your fault. It's because meditation is a top down approach. It starts in the brain trying to calm the body and brain down. When you are stressed a bottom-up approach is far more successful. Stress always starts with sympathetic nervous system activation, which signals danger from the body to the brain.
